MRC Human Genetics Unit in Edinburgh, Scotland, are seeking to recruit a group leader in the area of RNA biology, for their first independent appointment, or early in their independent careers, to the Chromosomes and Gene Expression Section (Section Head, Professor Wendy Bickmore) of the MRC Human Genetics Unit (Director, Professor Nick Hastie).

The remit of the Unit is to advance the understanding of genetic factors and basic mechanisms implicated in human disease and normal and abnormal development. The interests of the other groups in the Section are in the regulation of gene expression - both transcriptional and post-transcriptional - and range from chromatin-mediated control of transcription, through mRNA/micro RNA/small RNA processing, RNA editing and regulation in the germ-line. We are looking for an innovative group leader seeking to establish, or further develop, an internationally competitive research group in RNA biology to complement existing research areas of the Unit.

The successful candidate will be required to develop a programme of research within an advanced training and development scheme.

The Human Genetics Unit has facilities and expertise in a wide range of disciplines; more information on the research in the Unit can be found on the website. Full details of the position and how to apply can be found at on the jobs page of the Human Genetics Unit website.
